Freedom Fund Banquet
The NAACP wishes to extend an invitation to its annual banquet:
"Remembering Our Past to Protect Our Future"
The banquet will be held at the Hyatt Regency on Town Lake, which is located at 208 Barton Springs Road, Austin, Texas, 78704, on Saturday, December 7, 2019. Doors open at 5:30 pm; the program will begin promptly at 6:00pm.
The DeWitty/Overton Freedom Fund Banquet is our marquis fundraiser that honors Arthur B. DeWitty and Volma Overton, two great Texans who fought on the front lines for civil rights.
This year, we are also celebrating our 100th year as the Austin NAACP Branch.
The 2019 award recipients are as follows:
DeWitty/Overton Award - Jeff Travillion, Travis County Commissioner Precinct One
Captain Louie White Award - Erica Danielle, Austin Police Department Officer
Award for outstanding leadership and consistent work in advocating for equity - Dr. Kazique Prince, Senior Policy Advisor City of Austin, Mayor’s Office
Award for outstanding leadership - Courtney Bailey, Director of Issues & Engagement, Leadership Austin
Award for outstanding business leadership - Alta Alexander, Owner of Altatudes
Award for outstanding leadership in education - Natasha Staten, Principal, Del Valle Middle School
Award for outstanding business leadership - Stevin Bass Kane, Owner of Kane's Barbershop
Award for outstanding community leadership service - Aaron Demerson, Texas Workforce Commissioner
We would appreciate your support for our annual fundraiser
through table, ticket, or advertisement purchases; sponsorships; or donations. The annual collectible souvenir journal provides an opportunity for local politicians, businesses, entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, churches, memorials, restaurants, vendors, graduations, retirements, congratulatory statements, and other groups to advertise at a low rate. Your ad will be viewed by over 700 guests. All banquet attendees will receive a souvenir journal.
